Dear Dyslexia
Bright kids.
Unexpected struggles.
And so many reasons for hope.
One in 5 children have dyslexia. There's a good chance you already know one. Early awareness changes outcomes, yes — but more than that, it changes how a child understands themselves.
Why it matters to us
This isn't a cause.
It's personal.
Briar started because I couldn't find a beautiful bonnet for my daughter, so I made one. It took off, and here we are. Dear Dyslexia started because I realized that 1 in 5 of the children my bonnets were landing on would have dyslexia — and most would go undiagnosed. After watching what early identification did for my own son, I couldn't look the other way.
And the more I thought about it, the more obvious it became: my Briar customers were exactly the parents who needed to hear this. The ones with babies and toddlers, still years ahead of the moment things get hard. That's the window. That's why this exists.
Research shows dyslexia can be identified as early as kindergarten or first grade, reliably and before a child falls behind. Most children aren't identified that early. Awareness at the family level is what changes that.
What every purchase does
Beautiful things can carry a quiet purpose.
Every Briar purchase supports Dear Dyslexia's awareness work — resources for parents, educational content, and the quiet drumbeat of a statistic that deserves to be known. Because slow reading does not mean slow thinking. And every child identified early gets something too many never do: a roadmap to their own strengths, right when they need it most.
For the parents who are already paying attention. For the ones who aren't sure yet. Thank you for being here.
